Pandit Bhimsen Joshi

An incredible singer, a true vocalist of a Hindustani genre is no more existing. It is very disheartening for the entire world that we would not get to listen and experience his remarkable songs anymore from the maestro himself in person.

I know most of the Indians would cherish his memories but more so for me, because we both come from North Karnataka, it really gives me immense pride to be standing here and proclaiming that. Despite coming from such a small town he made his career so prolific and also made the entire world dance to his Hindustani tunes.

Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is a rare artiste whose music has been hailed by both the critics and the masses. His performances are marked by spontaneity, accurate notes, dizzyingly-paced taans which make use of his exceptional voice training, and a mastery over rhythm.  He was awarded Bharat Ratna, followed by so  many other accolades throughout his career.

May his soul rest in peace. Jai Hind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burton on the Water

It’s Saturday morning at 10.30 apparently didn’t have anything to do. Ravi says Baby let’s go to Burton-on-the-Water, let’s get started. We left around 11 A.M, on our way to the place we could spot so many scenic places. It was lovely to see and embrace it. I was totally rejuvenated. We reached Bourton around 12.30.

A jaw dropping place never saw anything as rustic as that – takes you to an other level.

More First time experiences…

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I have been doing a lot of new things!! Hurrah!

Despite my fear to drive, I got into doing so last Sunday! We thought it might be a good idea for me to start driving.

It was a good late afternoon, when Ravi said lets go, baby, I’ll teach you how to move the car!! And, now I can confess that I have indeed got impulsive about driving!

The fact that I am in control of the car and was responsible for it motion actually gave me a lot of encouragement, and pleasure!

Well, Ravi has been my greatest driving force behind this! Thanks honey!

Cooking experiences

For the past few weeks, I’ve taken to cooking keenly! Now that I have my own kitchen, and some time to spare, cooking seems to be a great hobby.

My inspiration has always been my sister, who is an excellent cook! She’s shown that it is possible to prepare really really tasty dishes even if you haven’t cooked much before.

Prior to coming to the UK, I had never stepped into the kitchen. However, destiny and necessity makes you do everything for the first time! My hubby has always been a great source of encouragement and keeps tipping on whatever I prepare.

I’m a connoisseur of Punjabi food, and so I started my kitchen-adventures with “Shahi Paneer”.Having borrowed the recipe from Indian Food site. It is really amazing how you can prepare such great dishes just by following some well thought of recipes. Shahi Paneer was a Shahi-success. My hubbs and I enjoyed the Shahi Panner thoroughly, with some homemade chapathis. This hinted a thought that we could cook more healthily and tastily that the chefs in most hotels (perhaps that is an over-statement). Nevertheless, I continued my kitchen-journeys of adventure cooking.

Cooking routine food is also quite challenging with people like my hubbs who needs to eat different food each day. We’re quite piggy and crave for good distinct food, probably that’s the only common characteristic between US!
